As Told to PLUS Contributor, Michelle Renee
Have you ever worn a sweatshirt around YOUR waist? I have! I wasn't
always proud of my curves. When I was younger I was an athlete, but I
was also an obsessive exerciser and voracious eater. Never bigger than
a size 12/14, but always insecure, I ate until I almost burst, then
exercised for hours. Food ran my day, and I spend my day running it
off! But I'm happy to say I've left those days behind me.
So what changed? Did I become suddenly cellulite free and fabulous? I
wish! Here's what happened: I finally found the balance between salads
and chocolate, veganism and hedonism, obsessive aerobics and enjoyable
exercise. My body reflects the choices I make each day, and I'm proud
of what I've achieved!
I'm tall, strong, confident and fit. I love climbing hills, lifting
weights, and pushing myself to reach new goals. Am I over a size 8? You
bet. I'm sure I always will be. But I have more energy and confidence
than ever before.
I love my curves because I've earned them. Every bite of beautiful
chocolate, every last pushup and sit up is reflected in the curve of my
hips and the tightness of my tummy. I don't regret ordering dessert,
but I don't mind taking a long walk after dinner, either. Accepting and
enjoying my body is the best thing I've ever done. Now it's your turn
to join me! So...remember to eat your vegetables, but don't forget the
chocolate!
