When did you decide you wanted to be a plus model?
 
In 2006 I decided to enter a plus model search for an online magazine. It was an impulsive decision, but I thought, "What the heck - it can't hurt". So I sent my application in but didn't have expectations of ever hearing back from them. A few weeks later I received a call from the Editor of the magazine telling me I was selected as a top 5 finalist! It was at that point I realized that my dreams of becoming a plus model were actually attainable, which encouraged me to continue my pursuit and to not give up. Shortly after that, I auditioned for a plus size modeling troupe in my hometown called Phat & Phabulous. They opened the door to several opportunities for me, and since joining the troupe I've really become focused on furthering my career as a plus model.

Who are your favorite curvy role models?
 
Actually, the people I look up to the most and consider 'role models' aren't necessarily in magazines, on billboards or in the movies. It's the every-day woman walking down the street who oozes confidence, sexiness and independence that inspires me the most. In the modeling industry though one person I definitely admire is Nadirah. She's a beautiful woman and at 5'2" has proven that you don't have to necessarily meet the industry "standards" or "definitions" to be successful.  I'd love to meet her some day.
 
If you could pick the perfect plus modeling campaign for yourself, who would you want to work for?
 
I'd really like to find a designer who specializes in petite plus size clothing. It's hard enough to find trendy plus size fashions as it is ... but when you're 5"3' clothes are even harder to find that flatter your shape and fit well. I'd also like to head off a plus-size swim wear campaign. Having lived in Florida all my life, the beach was my first true love. Finding a bathing suit that covers up the trouble spots but doesn't resemble something your mother would wear is hard to find! I'd love to see a line of fun, flirty, youthful styles!
 
What are your dreams, desires and goals as a plus model?
 
My number one goal right now is to find agency representation. In the meantime, I'd love to have other opportunities to do runway. I can't even find the words to describe the adrenaline rush you get when you're struttin' down the catwalk! I just love it. All eyes are on you and it has to be fierce. I'm also interested in doing more beauty and fashion work, and especially in opportunities that could provide tear sheets. I'm the kind of person that won't stop until I achieve whatever I've set my mind to. I believe that anything is possible if you're willing to work hard enough to get there.
 
Name your favorite store to shop for curvy clothes in your hometown...
 
Honestly, I'm really a thrifty kind of girl - I shop wherever I find great deals. I'm such a sucker for a hot pair of heels on clearance!  Unfortunately, in Tallahassee we are pretty limited on shopping locally, so a lot of my shopping is done online. It's a shame that some places have pulled their plus sizes from the local stores. There are a few places like Lane Bryant and Fashion Bug I shop at quite a bit here in town. Otherwise, I take advantage of shopping when I travel to bigger cities.
